When the labia minora or inner lips of the vulva are excessive due to congenital overdevelopment or stretching from childbirth, the appearance can be distracting for some women and can interfere with sexual intimacy. Most women do not want the inner lips to protrude past the outer lips and labiaplasty can help women achieve this balance. Labiaplasty is the surgical reduction of the labia minora.
- Relatively simple procedure but requires general anesthesia.
- Outpatient procedure.
- Must avoid intercourse for 6 weeks after surgery.
